ABOUT FENNY
Like many other musicians, he started out with a set of drums as a kid, but when he heard the harmonica, he set the drums aside for the more portable instrument. It has taken him worldwide performing at major Fairs, Festivals, clubs and other music venues. In his travels he has performed along side of many top-flight musicians covering all musical genres from Electric and Acoustic Blues to Classic Rock, Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Roots, Americana, Christian Rock, Hip-Hop, and Reggae.
Some of the more notables he has played with and opened for include Eddie Money, Greg Kihn, Johnny Winter, Brownie McGhee, Pat Travers, Sons Of Champlain, Lydia Pense, Richie Havens, John Mayall, Jesse Colin Young, Joe Satriani, Ronnie Montrose, Louisiana Red, Boz Scaggs, Y&T, Chubby Checker, Syndicate Of Sound, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Louis Walker, Booker T & The MG's, Etta James, Roy Rogers, Big Daddy Kinsey, CJ Chenier, Ron Thompson , Jon Paris, JJ Malone, Trick Pony, John Byrne (Count Five),Chris Cain, Les Dudek …and that is just a small sample from a very long and impressive list.
It was his union with the late Brownie McGhee that has, in his words, "made it all worthwhile!" "Fenny" along with The Elmer Lee Thomas Blues Revue accompanied headliner Brownie McGhee at the main stage of the 1995 Chicago Blues Festival and the Monterey Blues Festival. His harmonica style can be heard throughout Brownie's last recordings "Brownie's Blues" (released as an import, Goldstar Records Sept. 1995).
Current projects include 11 different duos, Vintage Classic Rock, Chubby’s Allstars (his band of 29 yrs) as well as continuously performing in numerous blues and folk duos and trios, including Chubby's All Stars. Fenny is also an original member of The Metro Fountain Blues Festival Allstars and keeps busy as a freelance photographer, emcee at major art & wine festivals, and has experienced a 37 year career as a marketing executive in Radio & TV & Print in the SF Bay Area & Monterey Bay area media. He currently lives in Morgan Hill, CA & works as Advertsing/Marketing Director for Morgan Hill Life, the community news source...
